03/02/06 AGR-Lite deadline coming up

Washington Ag March 1, 2006 March 15th is the final date for enrollment in the 2006 Adjusted Gross Revenue -Lite insurance. And John Nelson of the Western Center for Risk Management Education, says don't wait until the last day if your are interested. Nelson: "Probably by the tenth at the latest to get there and have the time to give their agents the opportunity to work with them and explain the program, get the paper work they need, and do a good job for them. It is going to take a week, maybe more, to get that done." AGR-Lite is an all farm revenue policy based on the average of the previous five year's income. Nelson says some segments of agriculture in particular could benefit in protecting that. Nelson: "But I think with cattlemen with cattlemen they need to look at protecting this last four or five years have shown some real improvement in their revenue streams. This allows them to work for that. Organic farmers and direct marketers they have a good opportunity of protecting a high value they have been able to get for their products." And the liability coverage on AGR-Lite this year was increased to one million dollars. It's available in all Washington counties. I'm Bob Hoff.
