Why The US Postal Service Should Underwrite Rodeo

I’m Susan Allen this is Open Range.  I came across an article coincidentally buried in the sports digest section of my local paper that has left me feeling like, I’ve got a burr under my saddle blanket.  Stay tuned because I’ll just bet you’ll find the piece as irritating as I do. Like a saddle sore,  the article I found  in the sports section of our paper Saturday galled  me when I read that the same government agency, The  United States  Postal Service, those folks that make you and I wait in line forever because they are always understaffed, the very ones that keep raising the price of a stamp and want to curtail Saturday delivery because they say they are going broke  spent $31.9 million to underwrite Lance Armstrong’s pro-cycling team. Let me repeat 31.9 million! When did our  Government get into the pro sports business? And if  they are who in the heck decided on pro-cycling a sport that has much appeal for most Americans as pro-soccer.  Interesting isn’t it that the same postal service that keeps delivering me my neighbors mail could be so  savvy at hiding the fact they or  rather "we"  footed nearly  sixty five percent of Armstrong’s cycling team's  bill  from 2001 to 2004.  Now the way I figure.... if the Postal Service will pay for Lance to peddle why shouldn't they help underwrite pro- rodeo. Heck they might at the very least be fundin  a  American sport that pays  homage to our countries history rather than one full of illegal drug use, European athletes and scandels whose biggest venues aren’t  even held in our own country.
