04/04/06 Potato Congress registration underway

It's the first time that the World Potato Congress has come to the US. Denver wanted to be the host city, so did Seattle but it was Boise that won the right to host the weeklong event next August 20-26. WPC project manager Monte Cox says the week is broken up into sessions at Boise and on Simplot Company land near Wilder. COX "There will be two and a half days of meetings and educational programs at the Boise Centre on the Grove, three days of working demonstration farm show out near Wilder." Already some of the plots for the farm show are being prepared. Cox says the sessions in Boise will deal with global issues like science, industry, nutrition, water management and can range widely from the environmental concerns to planting potatoes in third world countries. COX "We've got people coming from all over the world." Registration fees range from 145 dollars to 475 dollars depending on which events are attended. Need more info?
