From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Start making plans for the 2023 Washington State Tree Fruit Association’s Annual Meeting and Hort Show December 4, 5 & 6 in the Tri Cities.

WSTFA President, Jon DeVaney says it will give everyone a chance to catch a breath …

DeVANEY … “Exactly, and to assess what’s gone on the year before and to think about what we might learn and how we can adopt strategies to be successful in the future.”

And, DeVaney says the educational opportunities …

DeVANEY … “That’s what Marty and the planning committee have really been working hard to put together, a really great agenda that focuses on not only horticultural topics, which are always timely and of interest, but some of these broader economic questions on how you can be successful in a very competitive environment.”

In the meantime, DeVaney says they’re bring lawmakers over for a tour during harvest season …

DeVANEY … “We’re taking the chance, while they’re out doing work in the orchard, to bring some of our legislators over to see harvest activities and see what they contend with as producers so that those legislators are better educated and prepared to deal with issues that affect our industry when they’re making laws and rules over in Olympia.”

Especially, DeVaney says the urban legislators …

DeVANEY … “It’s very educational for them and they get to talk directly with growers and their employees and see and handle our products and fall harvest period is a great time to do that.”

So, make your plans for the WSTFA Annual Meeting December 4, 5 & 6 in the Tri Cities.
