Christmas Tree Farm 2

Christmas Tree Farm 2

Yesterday we heard a story about the Ingraham family. The Dad and Mom, Bill and Olive, raised a family in Massachusetts that included 4 boys and a girl. The Ingrahams started a Christmas tree farm on 30 acres. 3 of the boys now live in Idaho but all have benefited from growing up and working the family farm. Here’s their Mom, Olive, describing how the customers get their trees each year: ”When people come on the weekend they have to park out on the street and they walk in and they buy a tag which is a piece of flagging tape that we write their name on and we tell them to go up and find the tree they want, cut it down, put their tag on it and bring it to one of the roadways. Bill has 3 old Allis Chambers tractors plus a Kabota which all have trailers behind them and our workers pick up the trees and they take them out to a bailing station where the trees are bailed and then our customers go out to the street, get their cars, and get into a special driveway called a pick-up driveway, they tell our workers their name and their tree gets tied on their vehicle and that’s pretty much how it goes.”

Has the business generated revenue? “With 5 children we paid 20 years of tuition and after saving up for 2 years we paid for a beautiful wedding (laughter)”.
